If there is a natural or man-made event that overwhelms or delays the community's professional responders, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that they learned during their CERT training. These skills can help save and sustain lives until help arrives. June 20, Harris County CERT Coordinator Misty Gunn will offer "Your family, Your plan, Your safety - Ready for Anything," outlining how businesses and families can be prepared for all types of disasters.
Gunn is a Community Emergency Response Team Coordinator for the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management with responsibility for CERT Training, organizing classes, recruiting new members and providing support to the Medical Reserve Corp. She also serves as a member for the Harris County CERT Rodeo Round-Up and National Weather Service Hurricane Workshop Planning Committees.
