A man is in critical condition following a collision with a train south of Magnolia Dec. 18.
Texas state troopers said that Jeff Thomas Henerick, 34, of Conroe, was traveling westbound on Coleman Road, across from High Meadow Ranch, when his Fastenal work truck crossed the train tracks in front of a train traveling southbound at 50-miles-per-hour.
According to the crew of the train, Henerick was talking on a cell phone and never looked while the train approached. Several witnesses said that the train crew was frantically blowing the horn to get the man's attention.
The train traveled for nearly another mile before it could come to a complete stop.
Henerick was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in Houston with at least several broken bones.
This is the second train accident in nearly the same spot over the last year. A man walking on or near the tracks just north of Coleman Road was hit and killed by a train. That was just a week after a trailer hauling oilfield equipment was hit by a train inside the city of Magnolia.
