Several area charities and groups are frantically preparing for various way to help those in need over the holiday season.
The Southern Diva's Holiday Market and Food Drive will be held in Tomball at 111 W. Main St, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to all ages. Santa will be available between noon and 2 p.m. to take photographs with children and over 35 vendors will be in attendance to sell their unique products, crafts, and handmade goods.
The program will also include a food drive for Salem Lutheran Church's charitable program, "Helping Local Tomball Families." The program will give food to families in need all over the Tomball area through organizations like the Tomball Pregnancy Center and Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM). Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to contribute to the food drive.

TEAM's Resale Shop will hold a special Dollar Days sale Dec. 21 from 10-3. Shop manager Barbara Fabian said that nearly everything in the store will be priced at a dollar.
"It's to help people who want to get last minute items at an affordable price," she said.
TEAM is also busy with its annual Adopt-a-Family program, according to director Loma Holmes. She said that more than 200 families are signed up to be adopted for the holidays. Businesses, groups and individuals that choose to adopt a family will take care of and deliver the gifts and meals to the families.
"We still have families that have not been adopted," she said. "We still need food and gifts for teenagers and small children."
