The Tomball Republican Women's Club will host Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Vice-Chair Melinda Fredricks June 27, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Lone Star College-Tomball Library in Room L-129, 30555 Tomball Pkwy.
Fredricks was elected Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas at the 2010 state convention, and was re-elected at the 2012 state convention in Ft. Worth.
Fredricks has volunteered for numerous campaigns, including serving as a regional chairman for Susan Combs for Comptroller, steering committee member for Gov. Rick Perry, Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples and Justice David Gaultney's campaigns, Montgomery County co-chair for Senator Cornyn's and Lt. Governor Dewhurst's campaigns and as the 2008 Montgomery County Victory chair.
In 2003, Perry appointed Fredricks to the Texas Medical Board (TMB), which is responsible for licensing and disciplining Texas physicians. In 2008, Fredricks resigned from the TMB, and Perry appointed her as a commissioner of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC).
Fredricks is a former middle school math teacher and stay at home mom. Her previous experience includes working at a national political consulting firm. She currently works for the Montgomery County Republican Party.
