The third annual "Bugs, Brew & Barbecue" will kick off Tomball's fall festival season Saturday, Sept. 28 at Depot Plaza, 201 South Elm St. The event is being sponsored by Kroger.
"We are excited to present the third annual event and see it continue to grow as Tomball's reputation for providing quality events continues to grow around the state," said Tomball Marketing Director Mike Baxter.
More than 100 classic VW "bugs" from the North Houston Volkswagen Club will be on display around the historic Depot in downtown Tomball. Beetles, vans, Ghias and dune buggies, swap-meeters and more will be on-site from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. along South Elm, Market, and South Walnut Streets.
Baxter said that they are estimating more than 100 cars will be on display.
"There will also be a special exhibit consisting of 10 or so rare, classic Volkswagens," he said.
Cisco's Salsa Company will be pouring more than 30 craft brews from Texas breweries including Southern Star, Karbach, No Label, St. Arnold, Shiner, Real Ale, Alamo, Independence and Rahr & Sons.
Talk craft beer with representatives from St. Arnold Brewing and see the St. Arnold tie dye colored Beetle. A souvenir Bugs, Brew & Barbecue mug will be available.
Tomball's own Pecos Grill, Dickie's Barbecue Pit and Snookie's Fish Camp are among the local restaurants serving tasty pulled pork and chopped brisket sandwiches, sausage, fried ribs and more.
Live music begins at noon with British Invasion tribute band Picture Book and Texas music honky tonkers, Josh Fuller and Dirt & Diesel.
The Kids Zone will be filled with activities such as pony rides, bounce house and face painting and there will be more than 20 vendors on-hand with handmade merchandise.
"It's a great way to kick off our fall season for our award-winning festival program," said Baxter.
