A rollover crash on Nichols Sawmill, killed two people Oct. 26 and injured two more. Police say alcohol was a probable factor in the crash. The crash involved multiple ejections from a white pickup truck.

Tabor Tory, 19, of Magnolia was pronounced dead at the scene, while Kevin Hansen, 20, also of Magnolia was pronounced dead at Tomball Regional Medical Center. The driver of the truck, Brian Goetz, 20, was admitted to Northwest Hospital, while passenger Audrey Trent, 19, was life flighted to an area hospital in stable condition.

When emergency workers arrived on scene they initially thought there were only three victims, but later found a fourth victim 12 feet in the woods. With so many victims the Montgomery County Hospital District called in Northwest EMS for assistance.

Troopers said that Trent was sitting in the middle of the front seat and was the only person wearing a seatbelt.

The Montgomery County Police Reporter reports that Goetz was driving the truck north on Nichols Sawmill when he came to a curve in the road. The Police Reporter stated that DPS officials believe he left the pavement at a high rate of speed, overcorrected, crossed the road and flipped the vehicle at least twice. The truck then hit a fence before slamming into a tree.

One of the victims clothing was found 12 feet high, stuck in a tree.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office assisted at the scene as well.

No charges have been filed as of press time.

A train plowed into a trailer carrying specialized oilfield equipment to Mexico, the afternoon of Mar. 4, backing up traffic in all directions around Magnolia.

According to the Magnolia Police Department, the trailer was waiting on the tracks for workers to help it clear the overhead railroad signal on FM 1488, when the train came down the tracks.

No one was injured.

Magnolia Police Executive Officer J.K. Seangal said the tracks were blocked at FM 1488 and FM 1774 until around 9 p.m. He said they were dispatched to the scene just before 3 p.m.

"Union Pacific called a company that brought out a crane type piece of equipment that was able to remove the container holding the equipment being transported," he said. "We then called in some heavy tow trucks to remove the trailer."

The trailer was cut in half by the force of the impact.

Witnesses to the event say that they heard workers yelling for the truck driver to move, but the driver apparently did not speak much English and did not understand. That's when one of the workers grabbed the driver and pulled him from the truck at the last minute.

The force of the crash even tore the side of the train's engine off.

With so much heavy equipment involved, police had to look for creative ways to get traffic flowing again.

"We were able to keep traffic moving through the area through detour routes," Seangal said.

The entire scene was cleaned up and the equipment was all moved out of the area late the next morning.

Early last Monday morning May 6, Montgomery County 911 dispatchers received a call about a bad wreck on FM 1774, south of Magnolia.

When Magnolia firefighters arrived around 1:30 a.m., they found a white 2008 Dodge pickup truck in a ravine off the side of the road, near Hunters Lane.

Officials said that the truck veered off the road and cut through several trees, before ending up on its side. Firefighters and EMT's found the driver, Ramiro Castillo-Juarez, 25, still eat belted inside the cab with minor injuries.

His coworker, Louis Alcala, 47, was not seat belted and was found non-responsive inside the truck. Montgomery County Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Matt Masden later declared Alcala dead at the scene.

Castillo-Juarez was transported to Tomball Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. After his release he was taken into custody
and jailed on charges of Intoxication Manslaugh-ter.

The crash caused a headache for early morning traffic, as a crane from Milstead Heavy Duty had to be called in to remove the truck from the ravine. FM 1774 was closed in both directions until just after 6 a.m.

Alcala's body was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's office said that Castillo-Juarez's bond was set at $150,000.

The crash was investigated by Department of Public Safety troopers and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
