THS honors little league players

The Tomball High School Cougar baseball team takes time out to pose with area little leaguers during a recent Cougar game. The Cougars recently defeated Houston Reagan to move on to the area round of the playoffs. Tomball took on Friendswood in the area round last weekend. Tomball defeated Friendswood in a rain delayed game 4-3, to advance to the regional quarterfinals against Ridge Point this weekend.

Tomball High School recently celebrated the news that several baseball players have signed to further their careers in college. Concordia Lutheran High School's Golf Team had a number of all-District honor recipients this season. Pictured are the members of the team (from left) Coach Honeck, Tommy Vicknair, Clint Walkup, Austen Christiansen, Sam Schroeder and Jordan Noack. Noack, Schroeder and Vicnair were all named all-District. Walkup received the Crusader Award, coming in second place at the District Tournament and also earning all-District honors. Sophomore, Austen Christiansen, came in second at the 5A State Tournament and received all-State Honors.

After defeating Spring Woods in an extra game to squeak into the playoffs for the first time in school history, the Tomball Memorial Wildcats shocked high school baseball fans by defeating Milby in the bi-district round of the Texas 4A playoff recently. Behind some timely hitting and defense, the Wildcats eeked out a 6-5 win to open the best-of-three series against Milby. Milby was able to get on the board first, plating two runs against Tomball Memorial starting pitcher Jared Sienkiewich. Magnolia’s playoff run ends at state

The Magnolia High School girls soccer team finished an amazing run through the Texas state playoffs with a disappointing, but hard fought loss in the state semifinals April 18, in Georgetown. The Bulldogs lost to top-ranked Denton Guyer 4-2, ending their season with a 19-6-2 record. Magnolia fell behind late in the first half, giving up three goals within a span of six minutes, before Allison Abendschein headed a goal in after Zoe Bauerschmidt launched a corner kick her way. Salem Lutheran School's eighth grade basketball team, the Saints, won the Lutheran Middle School State Tournament recently, defeating San Antonio Shepherd of the Hills in the championship game. They will now head to the Lutheran National Tournament in Indiana later this month. The Saints are 20-5 this season and many of the players will be headed to Tomball Concordia Lutheran next year. Red Raiders capture top honors at tournament

The Texas Red Raiders of Magnolia won their first baseball tournament of the spring season. The Red Raiders went 4-0, in winning the Mardi Gras Bash 14-and-under Tournament at Houston's Doss Park. They are currently the third-ranked 14-and-under squad for Nations Baseball, in Texas. Throughout the Tomball Lady Cougars playoff run, they barreled their way through opponents with strong defense and a meticulous offense. In the regional championship game Feb. 22, Tomball ran into an opponent with a stifling defense to match and fell just short of the 4A Final Four, falling to top-ranked Georgetown 41-30. The disappointing loss came one game after a thrilling win over Pflugerville Connally Feb. 21, in the regional semifinals. Facing a team that likes to run up and down the court, the Lady Cougars took their ball control offense to another level in that contest, defeating Connally 45-40.…

Tomball Lady Cougars advance in playoffs

The Tomball Lady Cougars basketball squad advanced to the 4A area championship game, after an undefeated run through District 22-4A competition and a mauling of Houston Austin in the bi-district round. The Lady Cougars have rolled off 11 consecutive wins in cruising to a 27-6 overall record and number 15 4A state ranking. Their first playoff game was at home against Houston Austin Feb. 11.
