Following the resignation of former Chief Raul Reyes, who was at the helm for just a short time, Northwest EMS board members found themselves searching for a new chief for the second time in a year.
The board found their man in Brian Bayani, who comes to Tomball with 14 years of emergency medical experience.
Bayani, who comes to Tomball from the Harris County Emergency Corps, where he was the director of clinical services.
Before that he was at Cy Creek EMS and he started as an EMS worker in New Jersey when he was just 16-years-old.
He said that Tomball is the perfect place for him.
"It was a natural progression for me," he said. "I grew up in a small town where most everyone knew everyone else and it was a feeling I loved growing up. Tomball has that same feeling."
He said the transition will serve as one of his biggest challenges, since he is now the third chief at the helm in the last 12 months.
"The organization underwent a lot of changes in the last year and that can be extremely tough on the staff," he said. "I am ready to help move the organization forward and give it some consistency in leadership."
"I want to help ensure that Northwest remains a valuable corporate citizen in Tomball."
