A Tomball area man is now sitting in the Harris County Jail, after deputies said he stabbed his father numerous times, following an argument last week.
Joshua Brandon Tedford, 27, was charged with aggravated assault of a family member, after deputies said they found his father bleeding from several wounds. The incident happened at a home in the 14800 block of Shingle Oak Drive.
A female on scene told investigators that she witnessed Tedford stab his father.
“A female witness stated that she brought the son to the house to speak with his father,” Harris County Sheriff’s spokesperson Tebben Lewis said. “The son then picked up a pocket knife and attacked his father.”
Tedford fled the scene, but deputies apprehended him the following day, according to Lewis.
The father’s neighbor and landlord, Hazel Smith, told the Tribune that the son had told several people that he wanted to kill his father, prior to the incident.
“I was told they argued over some CD’s and he just started stabbing him,” Smith said. “I was talking to some people that (Joshua Tedford) talked about killing the whole family.”
“I could have never imagined something like that happening in my house,” she added. “I live across the street now, but I grew up in that house.”
Smith said that the father spent a few days in the hospital with a collapsed lung and that he is heartbroken over the incident. A probable cause statement by the investigating deputy confirms that the father suffered at least four stab wounds and a collapsed lung.
“That is his son, he is just devastated,” Smith said. “He is a good tenant that is busy all the time and keeps up the property good. He’s just a real nice man.”
“I don’t understand why his own son would do this.”
Tedford is now in the Harris County Jail with no bond. At his first court appearance July 18, a judge granted a psychological evaluation request for Tedford. He is set for arraignment on the charges Aug. 8.
