Detectives are searching for tips in a weekend burglary of a steel manufacturer near Pinehurst.
According to Montgomery County Sheriff's officials, Specialty Steel Supply of the 19200 block of Circle Lake Drive, near SH 249, was targeted by metal thieves late the night of June 15. Detectives said the thieves took high temperature aluminum and nickel alloy rods used for down hole drilling.
They believe that five or six male suspects forced entry into the building and loaded the rods into two different white vans.
The suspects grabbed numerous monel/nickel alloy rods ranging from one-half inches to 11 inches in diameter and from 6 to 8 feet long.
They also grabbed numerous one-half and three-quarter inch diameter inconel/nickel alloy rods that measure about 16 feet long, while also loading up numerous 19 foot long rods of one-and-a-quarter inch diameter.
