‘One-stop shop’ for county business coming to Magnolia

new property Magnolia residents will soon have a new place to conduct their business with the county and state.

Residents who need to pay taxes, obtain a new driver’s license, pay a traffic ticket, visit with public officials or even recycle, will soon be able to do it all in one large complex.

Montgomery County recently purchased 19.2 acres of land next to the Celeste Graves MISD building on Nichols Sawmill Road to be a “one-stop place to do everything,” said Montgomery County Pct. 2 Operations Manager Charlie Riley.

At left, Montgomery County purchased 19.2 acres next to the Magnolia ISD Celeste Graves building that will be a “one-stop shop” for county business in Magnolia.

The center will be the new residence of the Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace, the Pct. 5 Constable’s office, a sheriff substation or office, a Department of Public Safety substation, a tax office and the County Commissioner’s office.

There will also be a recycling center for residents.

“Anything to do with the southwest portion of Montgomery County, you’ll be able to do right here in this complex,” said Riley.

The largest building will be 15,000 square feet and will house all but the County Commissioner’s Office. The County Commissioner’s office will be 4,500 square feet and an additional building housing the maintenance department will be 8,000 square feet.

The land, which was purchased for around $221,000, will have a boulevard-type road with medians that will cut through the complex, run through what will become the Magnolia City Park and loop around to connect to Cloyd Street, where the ALPHA Academy stands.

The county is planning to start construction on the 15,000-square foot building by the end of June or by the first of July, Riley said.

He added that the county has wanted a complex where residents could do all their business in one place and having the MISD building next door was a plus.

“This should make it easier on everybody,” he said.
